Ardara Show Society: The Ardara Show Committee are holding a Meeting this Friday 1st in the Nesbitt Arms Hotel at 9pm.   Everyone is welcome to attend.

Snooker Winner: Congratulations to Ronan Whyte from Loughross Point son of Gerry and Eibhlin Whyte, who won the North West Regional U14 Snooker Final in Letterkenny last weekend.  He beat the favorite Sean Devenney 2.0.

Drama In Methodist Hall: The Ardara Methodist Group will be staging the Comedy Play “Widows Paradise” by Sam Cree in the Methodist Hall on this Thursday 28th February, Friday 1st and Saturday 2nd March at 8pm each night. Admission is €10 and includes Supper

Downstrands Family Resource Centre: Grinds in Leaving Cert Maths Higher and Lower and Oral Irish starting on Saturday 2nd March.  Oral Irish 11.30am – 1.00pm, Maths Higher 1.00pm – 2.30pm, Maths Lower 2.30pm – 4.00pm.  To book contact the office on 074 9545879.  There will be a Clothes Swap to celebrate International Women’s Day on Thursday 7th March in the Dolmen Centre at 11.00am.  Bring along new or nearly new good quality items, clothing, shoes, bags or accessories to swap. Cost €5 per session. This programme is designed specifically for men and women taking part in a weight loss programme.  Pilates will be included in this exercise programme.  Bring a mat, towel, small cushion and a bottle of water.

I.C.A: The March meeting of the Ardara Guild will be held in St Shanaghan House Thursday 7th March at 8.30pm. Come along and learn how to do Patchwork...designs, cutting out and finishing. New members always welcome!

Mini Mission: There will be a Mini Mission in the Parish from 20th to 23rd March.

GAA Membership:  Membership for the Ardara GAA Club closes on St Patricks Weekend.  Membership is available in Divers or on a Monday night in the Heritage Centre at 9pm.

St Patricks Parade: Our All Ireland winners Paddy McGrath and Pat Shovlin along with Sam will be our Grand Marshalls at this years St Patricks Parade on Monday 18th March.  All is organized, the Bands are booked but it is so important to the success of the Parade that we have a good selection of Floats.  So everyone is asked to think of an idea for a Float and we really do need Floats.  Please contact Gerard 087 6488628 if you have a Float for the Parade.  There is a Prize of €500 for the winner also good prizes for 2nd and 3rd.

The burial of John Ruddy:  John Ruddy will this week make the long journey to his final burial place in the Ardara Graveyard.  His burial will take place at 3pm this Saturday.  It is hoped that the Community will give a good and dignified interment to John in Ardara.  John was one f the 57 who left Derry in 1832 to meet his death at Duffy’s Cut near Phildelphia that same year.  His remains will be buried in the Family grave of Vincent Gallaghers family from Loughross Point.  The Burial will be the ending to a Film by Tile Films Ltd called “Death on a Railroad” which will be shown on RTE in the Autumn

Wood School Enrolement 2013: Any parents wishing to enrol their child / children in the Wood School in Ardara in September 2013 can come and visit the school any school day after 3pm to see its full range of facilities. Please contact the school on 074 95 41539 (woodns.ias@eircom.net) for more information. Enrolment Forms are available from the school. An enrolment day will take place for new entrants in June when new pupils can get a flavour of school life in the Wood School.
